Discussion on food security and geopolitics will be highlighted at GAFFFF 2025

Food security is one of the greatest challenges of our time and is directly linked to the global geopolitical scenario, involving factors such as political stability, per capita income, economic capacity, logistical infrastructure and food access and distribution policies.

According to United Nations (UN), Nearly 800 million people still face hunger, while more than a billion meals are wasted every day around the world. This contrast highlights the distortions of the global food system. A recent initiative that put the topic back at the center of discussions was the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, in November 2024, during the G20 in Rio de Janeiro.

Built over a year through international dialogue and cooperation, the Alliance was born with 148 founding members and the ambitious goal of eradicating hunger and poverty by 2030, reducing inequalities and strengthening partnerships for sustainable development.
