GAFFFF 2025 will discuss strategies to connect family farmers directly to consumers

Brazil stands out worldwide as an agricultural powerhouse, being one of the largest producers and exporters of food on the planet.

With vast expanses of land, a diverse climate and cutting-edge technology, Brazilian agribusiness has consolidated itself, year after year, as the main pillar of the national economy, contributing significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and generating millions of jobs.

However, behind the sector’s impressive numbers, there is a force that often goes unnoticed: family farming – a way of life and agricultural production based on units in which the family is primarily responsible for the workforce, work management and resources.

It is a form of agriculture that is based on the principle of a harmonious relationship between productive activities, the conservation of natural resources, knowledge and the maintenance of local culture and traditions. But anyone who thinks that this connection with the land, the territory and community life makes it irrelevant is mistaken. According to the 2024 yearbook of National Confederation of Rural Workers and Family Farmers (CONTAG), utopianly, if it were a country, Brazilian family farming would have been, last year, the 8th largest food producer on the planet…
